WEEDS

Waterhemp, Amaranthus tuberculatus
In addition to being glyphosate-resistant, some waterhemp populations in certain areas are also resistant to other modes of action including auxins (2,4-D), PSII, PPO, HPPD* and ALS inhibitors. (*Resistance has only been confirmed in post-emergence applications.) Populations with stacked resistance to multiple modes of action have been confirmed.

Ryegrass, Lolium spp.
These species of ryegrass, which have both been confirmed resistant to glyphosate for several years, are known to reduce yields in corn, cotton, soybeans and wheat.

Palmer amaranth, Amaranthus palmeri
This weed has developed a notorious reputation as the most problematic glyphosate-resistant weed in the South and is also known for rapid reproduction, with females plants producing around 500,000 seeds per plant.

Lambsquarters, Chenopodium album
This weed has yet to be confirmed glyphosate resistant in the U.S., but reports of higher tolerance and inconsistent control are increasing across the Midwest and South.

Johnsongrass, Sorghum halepense
A competitive perennial grass, Johnsongrass can spread easily and dramatically reduce crop yields.

Goosegrass, Eleusine indica
Recently confirmed resistant to glyphosate in Mississippi in 2010, goosegrass can grow in large clumps in fields of corn, cotton, soybean and wheat.

Common Ragweed, Ambrosia astemisiifolia
Common ragweed has developed herbicide resistance in seven states to four modes of action, including glyphosate, and populations resistant to multiple modes of action add to control challenges.

Barnyardgrass, Echinochloa crus-galli
This competitive, prolific grass is one of the most common weed problems in many crops.
